Winter. Brrr…Chesapeake is undoubtedly getting frozen this year. We got fourteen inches! It’s funny because one snow storm is like the end of the world here in Chesapeake.
“Are we freaking out too much about the snow?”
Is it just me, or when it’s snowing, everyone seems so much friendlier and calmer?
The other day, my father, my little sister, and I went on a walk to the 7-Eleven. It was freezing! There was a harsh wind hitting my back, and it was still snowing. So, it felt like a “snowstorm.”
I live on the main road, so usually, there’ll be cars zooming fast from place to place, but the streets were empty! (That’s why we decided to take a walk to the 7-Eleven by the way.) The only problem for me was that the streets were covered in ice! And I’m not your ice princess. If you put me on the ice, I’ll either fall right away or stay to the side, slowly walking like a little old lady. My younger sister is more the ice princess. She can spin and do all that stuff.
Anyways, there were some cars on the road. Maybe five every three minutes. But every time a car would pass, they would roll down their window and ask if we needed a ride. We said no every time because we wanted to walk in the snow storm. Haha.
The walk was pretty chill. Literally CHILL.
It was about a thirty-minute walk to the 7-Eleven, only because we were moving slow. The snow somehow makes everyone so much slower, and apparently nicer. My older sister said it’s because all the nice people are out driving around having fun. Mean while the mean people in the world are inside keeping warm, avoiding the winter fun.
There are parts of winter that are fun that takes place inside, too. For example; hot chocolate, warm cuddles( It’s true) reading a book, watching movies, having family time, etc. But for the people who stay inside all day; start a snowball fight!!!!
When we finally made it to 7-Eleven, we were struck by bad news. It was closed! Dun! Dun! Dun!!! That’s when I thought things couldn’t get worse, but winter proved me wrong. You know how I said, the wind was hitting my back? Well now, it’s my face! I had my scarf up to the top of my cheekbones, and my hat down below my eyebrows. I was freezing! I swear, when I get my own place, it’s going to be somewhere warm! My sister had to get carried after like five minutes because it was too rough for her.
Once we got back, I took off the snow clothes, made a hot cup of tea, and did nothing. It was actually kind of nice, not doing anything. I got to read and finish the book I had gotten from Christmas. I also wrote this blog post, too!
My favorite part of Chesapeake’s snow days is that everyone before it snows freaks out way too much!
The stores are always packed when the weather says it’s going to snow.
It’s hilarious! Do you know what’s weird, and funny at the same time? The stores are always going to be sold out of bread! My mom cooked Indian food one night, and you're supposed to eat pita bread with it, but she said they were all sold out! So instead, we ate crescents with it! It’s like everyone’s trying to eat sandwiches during the snowstorm! I don’t get it!
So, are we freaking out too much about the snow? Brrr…
