Hey, Book Lovers! Have you read any good books lately? My last read was amazing: To Love & Let Go by Rachel Brathen. In this article, I will explain why I liked it, and why you should read it!
I bought this book for my mother as a birthday present in October. My mom loves the author, Rachel Brathen (also known as Yoga Girl). We both do. She is inspiring, and a great yogini. My mother introduced me to her through Instagram and since then I’ve been following her account. She’s always posting truthful, positive stories on her page that inspires me in so many ways. It’s weird how Instagram works. I’ve never met her, but from her posts, I feel like I’ve known her forever.
‘To Love & Let Go’ is kind of her journey in becoming “Yoga Girl”. In the beginning, it was extremely sad. I’m not going to lie, I cried a few times while reading it. And that’s a lot coming from someone who doesn’t cry in books. But this autobiography was so raw it was almost like being in her mind. There were times when I had to close the book and just sit in silence. It’s an easy read, but because the book is so emotionally charged it took me longer than I had expected to finish it. I could only read a few pages at a time because it was a lot to take in.
It was a great book because it really took you for an adventure. In some chapters, I was extremely sad, and others I was bursting with happiness and laughter. Her story was just astounding. In a way, it reminded me of the story ‘Eat Pray Love’. I’ve never read the book, but I love the movie. I know that’s horrible I haven’t read the book, but don’t worry- it’s on my read list! Ha-ha-ha...
If you love big adventures and happy endings, you need to read this book. It was my first read of 2020, and already one of my favorites! I am warning you, this book is very emotional- but it does work out in the end! I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I’m not going into detail! You’re just going to have to read it.
Glennon Doyle, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Love Warrior says, “Rachel beautifully illustrates that loving fiercely and grieving deeply are often two halves of the same whole. Her story will break you down and lift you up.”
Not only was this an amazing story, but it also gave me advice and even opened my eyes to things I never thought about. One was just learning to feel your emotions and then let it go. As in: you can’t hold on to something you have no control over. Just acknowledge it and let go.
If you love yoga, this is an inspirational read for you. I definitely recommend it. After I read this book, I wanted to be more active in my yoga practice. I do yoga a lot already (my mom is a yoga teacher after all), but I started waking up early and doing my own flows. I even started meditating before I got up out of bed!
I hope this small bit of info made you want to read this book. Definitely a ‘must-read’! What books have you read recently? Share in the comments! Don’t forget to like, subscribe (if you haven’t already), and come back for more!;-)
Thank You, Yoga Girl.
