2022: New Year

Happy New Year! You are reading the first article of 2022. I hope you enjoy it!

This year will be a very exciting adventure. Not only is this the year I'm graduating high school and turning eighteen, but this is also the year I will (hopefully) finish my second novel and become a freelance writer.

I don't know about you guys, but I am ready for 2022. I can't wait for what the new year will bring. Yes, I am partially nervous about this year. How can I not be? There are so many reasons to be terrified. But, there are also so many reasons to be excited. Just as I wrote for last year's new year post, it's all about my perspective. The way I'll experience the new year relies entirely on how I'll see it. If all I see is the somewhat stressful things that 2022 holds(like becoming an adult in the eyes of the law, choosing a career path, finding a way to make enough money to support myself), then I won't see the exciting and positive things.

Sometimes it's hard to not focus on the negative. The other day, someone told me that they weren't negative, they were "realists". At first, I agreed with this. It sounded accurate. But then for some reason, I kept thinking about what they said more-- it just didn't stick. Why does the negative win over the positive in what is real? Why does life have to be taken as a gloomy, hopeless reality? When was that decided? Sure, fear and death are two big factors why we go straight to negativity when we think of reality. But why do we have to skip over peace and birth?

Noticing and pointing out the negative things in life does not make you a realist. It makes you a pessimist. And if you think life is just filled with sorrow and negativity, then that is all it will be filled with. In other words, the more you turn away from the happy moments and peace in life, the more negativity you'll see. If you're only acknowledging the negative moments in life, you'll miss the positive ones.

As crazy as it may sound, I believe the energy you put out is the energy that will return. If you are ready to attract success and positivity, I have three ideas for you to consider. You don't have to follow my ideas word for word. I'm not an expert in this subject or a professional. I only share what I perceive from my personal experiences.

Idea #1: Find the good in things. Take any situation, bad or good, and find positivity in it. This may take some practice to master, but when you do, you will enjoy life more.

Idea #2: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Ever heard of this saying? Really process the words, think about what it means.

Idea #3: Never lower your expectations or let others walk on your dreams. Humans are judgy. It's in our nature. Some people will judge other people negatively, which creates the person they're judging to doubt. Never shorten your boundaries to make someone else comfortable. Never lower your expectations just because those around you won't rise to your level. Never let someone doubt your dreams just because they don't know how to dream for themselves. Do what your intuition tells you. Trust your gut. Don't settle for less if more is your goal.

Have you written your new years resolutions and goals? It's not too late if you haven't. After you're done reading this post, grab a sheet of paper and pen. If you don't know what to write, please check my goals below.

My main goal this year is to grow and become a better me.

Going deeper into that goal, I have a few resolutions that I hope to be able to check off this year.

FIVE of my new year's resolutions.

  1. Be more committed to my current WIP(and hopefully publish it).

  2. Become a freelance writer.

  3. Publish articles weekly.

  4. Travel.

  5. Work out weekly.

Of course, I have multiple goals in mind for 2022, but the five listed are my most important.

Thank you for reading not only this week's article but also the first article of 2022! Here's to an amazing year! Remember, think positive. Think about all the possibilities that lie ahead. Think about all the happy memories that have yet to come, all the great opportunities, all of the ups and downs, the work you'll get done, the people you'll meet, the adventures you'll go on. This will be your year!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR,

Kait The Writer
